The local Buzzard

Peering from my window at our amazing views last week, I saw the buzzard on his perch looking around for mice near the stream. The grass is fairly long by now, many wonderful plants growing within it, Buttercups, Daisy etc. He looked around many times as he sat in the sun, its been quite a wet and blustery Spring so far.

Here are a few of the shots I captured as he scoured the grass by the stream looking for a potential rodent where he got really quite wet and bedraggled looking.

The Swiss Field Hare

Its so beautiful and rural where we are living. We often see the local countryside wildlife right through our window, less than 50m away from the house we can often see Roe Deer wandering by for a feed or the buzzards hunting, but this day was special…..

A field hare, which is rare here in Switzerland wandered by for his dinner in the field which was by now lush with inches long grass, its flourishing now in the Spring. We have had lots of rain, with some sun in between, which is really pushing the flora and fauna into growth overdrive!

I´m guessing that the amount of nutrition in this grass right now is like a nature superfood!

A walk with the birds in late March

We had some beautiful days here in the Emmental, late March, it was almost like Summer was here, not even Spring! Really hot and sun lotion weather, hats to keep us cool and t-shirts on.

After seeing the buzzards circling, I dashed out with my trusty R5 to capture some photos of the circling buzzards and ravens, who by now had made a "rave", "treachery", "unkindness" "conspiracy" flock. They are beautiful birds, their feathers have a wonderful sheen to them, sadly they flew off so fast, I couldn’t shoot the photo that I was planning, however I hope you like the composition and photos that I came out with in the end. Photos are art, this certainly features heavily in the Ravens photo.

Sadly the weather has turned back to snow and very cold, its probably the last of the year, so we enjoy looking at it, and stay wrapped up with heating on but look forward again to the hot days returning :)
